Even-numbered years - An election is held for one alderman in each ward, mayor and municipal judge.Those offices hold a two-year term.In addition, an election is held for the chief of police.That office holds a four-year term.
Odd-numbered years - an election is held for one alderman in each ward.Those offices hold a two year term.

First Day for Candidate Filing – December 13, 2016, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
Last Day for Candidate Filing – January 17, 2017, ending at 5:00 p.m.
Final Certification Date – January 24, 2017
Last Day to Register to Vote – March 8, 2017
Any person wishing to seek office must file a declaration of candidacy with the city clerk, pay a $25 filing fee, and meet the qualifications required for the position they wish to hold.
