Sewer

The Sewer Department maintains and repairs the City’s sewer system. This division maintains 20 sewage lift stations, 1,471 manholes, and 78 miles of associated piping that transports wastewater from residences to the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant. The City has a maintenance program to televise the sewer lines to check for root growth and blockages. A pipe lining program has also aided in the reduction of issues within the sewer system.

After Hour Emergency

Please call (573) 547-2500, a Police dispatchers will answer the phones after normal business hours (7:00 am - 4:00 pm), weekends and holidays. They will gather your information and dispatch the Public Works Department.

Before You Dig

Before starting any digging or excavating project, Missouri law requires that a locate request be placed. Placing a locate is free and easy. Call 1-800-DIG-RITE (344-7483) or 811. The Sewer Department will respond to your request and mark the approximate location of their lines within three working days.
