The Early Emergency Warning system is tested on the first Monday of each month, weather permitting. The test consists of all sirens and a monitoring system via radio or cable television. This system is used when a trained spotter or the National Weather Service reports a tornado, funnel cloud, or other potentially hazardous weather for the City of Perryville or Perry County.
The sirens are activated by a Communications Officer at the Perryville Police Department by sending pre-programmed radio code to the siren. When the sirens sound, it is time to take your family to your predetermined shelter.
The City of Perryville does not send out an “all clear” siren.
