Mayor

Greetings From the Mayor

HISTORY:

Perryville was first incorporated in 1831 and is the county seat of Perry County, Missouri. Our diverse culture stems from immigrants who settled here from France, England, Ireland, and Germany. For over 175 years our city has been the hub of commerce, culture and growth in our county. Two of the cornerstones on which Perry County were built were St. Mary's of the Barrens Seminary (historic seat of the American Vincentians) and Saxon Lutheran Memorial (birthplace of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod). Over the years, family businesses and new businesses have arrived bringing additional growth and prosperity. We are proud to be the home of TG Missouri, Gilster-Mary Lee Corporation, Robinson Construction, Sabreliner Aviation, Perry County Memorial Hospital, Perryville Municipal Airport, and the National Shrine of the Miraculous Medal, to name just a few. In addition, the community is fortunate to have a strong Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Authority comprised of local partners in economic development. We are rich in tradition and proud of our growth and accomplishments.

PARKS & RECREATION:
Our parks and recreation facilities include the Perry Park Center, which houses a 22,000 sq. ft., award-winning indoor pool, complete with a water slide; a 400-seat theater, which features first-run movies and live stage productions; basketball and racquetballs courts; a complete, well-equipped fitness center and an indoor track for walking or jogging. Our Park Center is also home to the Perryville branch of the Riverside Regional Library, which houses a collection of 25,000-plus books, videos, CDs, and books-on-tape. Computer stations provide patrons internet access.

Over two miles of handicap accessible hike and bike trails wind through the Bank of Missouri Soccer Complex (10 fields) and the City Park (10 baseball/softball fields), linking the Perry Park Center, playing fields, basketball courts, tennis courts and sand volleyball courts with playground and picnic areas. A recently renovated, state-of-the art Veteran's Memorial Field, next to the Perry Park Center, is every ballplayer’s dream and the Perry County History Museum and Perry County Veteran's Wall of Honor help ensure the park system offers something for all ages.

EDUCATION:
Educational opportunities abound in the community. We are home to Perry County District #32, whose Boys Soccer Team won the Class 2 State Championship in 2015. The St. Vincent School system offers a Catholic education for grades preschool through 12, and was named a 2014 High School of Excellence by the Cardinal Newman Society (one of only 71 such awards in the nation). Finally, Immanuel Lutheran School offers yet another high-quality, accredited educational opportunity for grades preschool through 8. If that was not enough, the Perry County Higher Education Center hosts college classes through cooperative programs with Mineral Area Community College, while District #32's Career and Technology Center features vocational and agricultural classes and adult continuing education courses.
We’ve truly got it all – Perry County Memorial Hospital, Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter service, Perry County Senior Center, rehab and therapy facilities, several nursing homes and assisted living centers, beautiful homes, affordable housing, multiple museums, great shopping, a thriving courthouse square, a 9-hole golf course, high-quality fairs, festivals and community events, all of which are served by topnotch city services.
Again, the citizens of Perryville welcome you. Enjoy your time with us.
