The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is a division of the Perryville Police Department. The Assistant Chief of Police and Fire Services serves as the Emergency Management Director.
The OEM is responsible for the Early Warning System which is a combination of tone activated voice monitors placed in critical locations throughout the city as well as tornado sirens strategically placed throughout the city. The OEM is also responsible for assisting in providing auxiliary electrical power to critical operations during the time of disasters/emergencies. The OEM is responsible for the coordination of communications, operations, and procurement of supplies during emergency and disaster situations.
Police Officers and Firefighters are assigned to the OEM during special operations situations. Both the Police and Fire Personnel are trained in various levels of building and structural search and rescue, traffic control, emergency command set up and deployment, and structural stability evaluation and inspection.
